Person dies after falling into active aircraft engine at Amsterdam airport

A person has died after becoming trapped in a running aircraft engine at Amsterdam’s main airport.

The incident at Schiphol airport reportedly involved a KLM Cityhopper Embraer ERJ-190 plane which was preparing to depart on a regional flight.

It has not been clarified whether the individual, who is yet to be indentified, was a passenger or an employee.

A spokesperson for Schiphol airport posted on X: “Today there was a horrible incident where a person ended up in an airplane engine.

“Our thoughts go out to the relatives and we care for the passengers and colleagues who witnessed this.

“The Royal Military Police is currently conducting an investigation.”
